SUBMISSION AND PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Papers submitted to Annali di Igiene are carefully processed by the Editor-in-Chief and assigned to a Section Editor, who will manage the review process. Authors can suggest up to 3 recommended reviewers. When papers do not meet iterestvfor Public Health, editorial requirements or priority for publication will not be further considered. Papers affected by ethical issues will also be rejected. Papers that do not comply with this journal’s style will be returned to the Author/s for revision before any review. Papers that pass the Editorial review will be sent out for peer review.

Annali di Igiene follows a “double” anonymized review process, which means the identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa. The main body of the paper (including the references, figures, tables and any acknowledgements) should not include any identifying information, such as the authors' names or affiliations.

The journal will strive to guarantee a standard peer-review timeline of no more than 45 days from submission to first decision.

For manuscripts considered of urgent public health relevance — such as those related to infectious disease outbreaks, environmental pollution events, or other emerging/re-emerging health threats—authors are encouraged to submit under the Rapid Public Health Report format. For this category, the journal is committed to ensure a first fast-track review process within 21 days.
